Considering Couples Therapy?

Relationships are one of the most meaningful parts of our lives - and also one of the most challenging. Even strong, loving partnerships can feel strained by conflict, disconnection, stress or major life changes. Couples counselling offers a supportive, neutral space to slow down, feel heard and begin repairing what feels stuck.

At Equanimous Mind Works, I offer both online and in‑person couples counselling in Coomera on the Gold Coast, supporting couples to strengthen communication, rebuild trust and reconnect with one another in meaningful ways. My approach is warm, evidence‑based and tailored to your unique relationship.

You don’t need to be in crisis to seek support. Couples counselling can be a proactive step toward deeper connection, clarity and emotional safety.

Book a counselling session online or reach out for a 15 minute complimentary connection call.

Is Couples Counselling Right for You?

Many couples seek counselling when they notice recurring patterns that feel hard to shift on their own. You may benefit from couples counselling if you’re experiencing:

  • Frequent arguments or unresolved conflict

  • Feeling emotionally distant, disconnected or misunderstood

  • Loss of intimacy or closeness

  • Trust issues, including infidelity or broken agreements

  • Stress from parenting, work or life transitions

  • Difficulty communicating needs and emotions

  • Feeling more like roommates than partners

These challenges are more common than you might think - and they don’t mean your relationship is failing. With the right support, they can become opportunities for growth, repair and deeper understanding.

How Couples Counselling Can Help

Through couples counselling, many partners experience:

Improved communication and emotional understanding

Healthier ways of navigating conflict

Rebuilding of trust and emotional safety

Greater clarity around shared goals and decisions

Stronger intimacy and connection

Tools to manage future challenges together

Counselling isn’t about blame or deciding who's "right." It's about learning how to relate differently, with more empathy, respect and care.

What to Expect in Couples Counselling

A supportive, structured process designed to help you understand each other, build new skills and move forward with clarity.

Building Skills & Understanding

Ongoing sessions focus on improving communication, managing conflict, rebuilding trust and strengthening emotional connection, with practical tools you can use at home.

3

A Supportive, Flexible Process

Sessions are non-judgmental and tailored to your needs. Most couples attend weekly or fortnightly, with the length of therapy shaped by your goals.

My Approach to Couples Counselling

I’m Kriszta Zakany, an ACA‑registered counsellor specialising in relationships and couples therapy. I work with couples in a way that is compassionate, structured and grounded in research, while always remaining gentle and human.

My couples counselling work is informed by:

  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 2 Training) – a research‑based approach focused on communication, friendship, trust and conflict management

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) – an attachment‑based model that helps couples identify negative cycles and build emotional connection

  • Presence‑Oriented Relationship Therapy – supporting couples to navigate change with awareness, compassion and trust

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – helping partners reconnect with values and respond more flexibly to difficult emotions

Rather than using a one‑size‑fits‑all model, I tailor each session to your relationship, your goals and your pace.

Take the First Step

Reaching out for couples counselling can feel daunting – and it’s also a courageous step toward change. You don’t need to have all the answers. You only need a willingness to begin.

If you’re looking for in‑person couples counselling on the Gold Coast, I’d be honoured to support you. Book your couples counselling session in Coomera today or get in touch if you have questions.

Together, we can work toward a relationship that feels more connected, resilient and supportive.
